Whilst not being the biggest regiment in the Sealed Knot, we still manage to field four separate arms that anyone can join, it all depends on what you want to do. We currently have about 70 members ranging from young babies through to the more mature patrons. Our pike and musket blocks have a good mix of men and women and we are a sociable bunch who enjoy a good party as much as a good battle.
The Pike Block
This is one of the two main fighting units within the regiment. Being a pike person is quite physically demanding as you will be required to carry and fight with a 18' ash pike. We fight at "point only" as we believe this to be the correct and authentic way that ECW units would have done so. To start off the Regiment will always help any newcomers by lending them kit, but we will expect everyone to eventually purchase their own.
The Musket Block
The other unit that fights on the field is the Musket Block. This tends to be more specialised as to be a live firer you would require a shotgun and black powder license (both available from your local constabulary). We have live firing replica muskets and also dummy muskets for those who wish to try it out before deciding.
Drummers
The Regiments orders are carried out to the beat of the drum. The drummers act as runners/messengers on the field and are a central point for rallying after any action.
Camp Followers/Living History
As we are a family based Regiment there are roles for all. You may wish to come on the field as a water carrier for the regiment, be part of the baggage trayne or, if you are under 16, join the apprentices, who recreate exactly what the Regiment do but without the battlefield experience.
